Executive Summary
This Accessibility Plan outlines our strategies and initiatives to ensure that our transportation services and operations are accessible, accommodating, and enjoyable for everyone. By implementing these measures, we aim to create an inclusive and barrier-free environment for drivers and staff with disabilities. SVS Transportation Inc.is committed to removing barriers and creating an inclusive environment for all people with disabilities through review and feedback making it a positive ongoing process.

SVS Transportation is committed to providing equal access and inclusive transportation services for all individuals, regardless of their abilities. This includes our staff and all people of the community.
The Building
We have wheel chair access to entrances and enough space for wheel chair access throughout the building. We have washroom access and well lit hallways.
Communication and Information Technology
a. Website Accessibility: SVS Transportation will ensure that its website is designed and developed to be accessible to individuals with disabilities. This includes adherence to Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 AA standards, providing alternative text for images, captioning for videos, and clear navigation.
b. Customer Service: SVS Transportation will train its staff to communicate effectively and respectfully with passengers with disabilities. We will provide training on disability awareness, assistive devices, and techniques for accommodating different needs.
Staff Training and Communication
a. Disability Awareness: All SVS Transportation staff will receive comprehensive disability awareness training to foster an inclusive and respectful environment. This training will cover disability etiquette, communication techniques, and understanding diverse needs.
All staff are trained on AODA as part of the on-boarding process when hired.
Training Includes the following:
- It includes how to interact and communicate with the disabled knowing how to approach the disabled in wheel chairs, with a support person or with at service animal
- To be aware of devices such as canes, walkers and wheel chairs
- An AODA policy is posted in the lounge which is centrally located for all employees and visitors to view for their knowledge
- AODA and human rights is a commitment that is outlined in the Star Van Systems Inc. Human Resources handbook
- SVS is to provide information to all employees of any changes to the Accessibility policy and Human Rights as they are reviewed and updated annually. They are posted in the employee lounge
b. Emergency Procedures: SVS Transportation will provide specialized training to staff members on how to handle emergency situations with disabilities. This includes evacuation procedures, use of emergency equipment, and providing appropriate assistance.
Consultations:
SVS reached out to other HR professionals in the industry and talked to staff about building this plan as our goal it to make our facility and culture accessible for all.
Feedback and Continuous Improvement:
a. Feedback Mechanisms: SVS Transportation will continue to establish clear channels to provide feedback on accessibility-related concerns or suggestions. This may include dedicated phone lines, email addresses, or feedback forms.
b. Continuous Review: SVS Transportation will regularly evaluate the effectiveness of its accessibility initiatives, considering feedback received from staff and engaging in discussions with disability advocacy groups. This will help identify areas for improvement and drive ongoing enhancements to our services.
